History

FOUNDED IN 1988 BY Mr.SYED HAFEEZULAH KAMILI CHAIRMAN – AKMAL PUBLIC SCHOOL.

Akmal Public School is one of the registered Institution with Government of Jammu & Kashmir as an N.G.O under Societies Act Vide No:2148-S-1994 and with Department of Education Vide No:934-EDU of 2001 dated July 19th 2001.It has its own Bye-laws to govern the School.

The institution was established in 1988 by the vigorous effort of the Chairman with the physical and moral support of its Managing Committee. All in the spirit to serve the weaker section, downtrodden, destitute, orphans, mentally retarded and physically handicapped persons, social victims etc. on “NO PROFIT NO LOSS” basis. The management had to face great financial and physical problems in the beginning but succeeded to lay the foundation of this Educational Institution.

This challenge carried out in a remote area that is socially, economically, morally and educationally so backward that zero percent education was available.

It was the great determination and various awareness programs by the team of Akmal that enlightened the local residents and changed the situation rapidly. Nowadays, every inhabitant although some are illiterate of the area is very much enthusiastic to enroll their children in this institution, which now comprises 365 boys and girls.

Presently, the institution is operating a High School and intends to convert it into a Degree College. The main hurdle is the financial crisis for the construction of building for the higher classes.

The school management has achieved a lot but is still not satisfied due to the bleak of finance resources.

The institution has taken in its hands a program of Computer Education for which a few Computers has been installed under a Vocational Educational Program. The institution emphasizes on practical education to educate the boys and girls of the area without any discrimination of creed, color, cast, religion and rank.

The institution is presently housed in two rented buildings comprising 21 rooms with the basic limited facilities of library, laboratory and a recreation hall.
